SUMMARY:anarkita #6
DESCRIPTION:What does community and solidarity look like in parenthood/childhood? How do we sustain our radicality and best channel rage while parenting? How do we avoid burnout and resist capitalist pressures (e.g. metrics and mandates of success\, productivity\, and happiness)? How\, as parents/carers\, do we practice solidarity with children in an adult-centric society?\n–\n“Being a parent is the most capitalist job\, a friend told me recently when I complained that choosing a school\, or a piano class\, seems like investing in shares. Unless you remain critical and aligned with your values… But how hard is that under so many pressures?! Being a parent can also be the most political job. We are constantly taking political decisions/action\, in our relation to food\, the environment\, plastic toys\, friendship\, death…” says Anca.\n–\n🌈 Every last Saturday of the month\, some of us meet as anarkita to figure out how to raise our kids against and beyond what bell hooks called the imperialist\, white-supremacist\, capitalist cis-normative patriarchy.\n🌱 Join us on our next gathering this coming Saturday\, 30 May\, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Mother House Studios: Lewisham\, 47 Slaithwaite Road\, SE13 6DJ –  London.

SUMMARY:Flema + Bucktail + Cut Flowers + Mental Issues + DJ Tony Bugbear
DESCRIPTION:Headcase – full on\, frantic punky indie with a suitably nutty frontman and superb\, committed performances all round. Quite a bit of early Blur in there maybe\, the more visceral end at least – see also the cranked up rhythm n booze end of late seventies stuff like the Hot Rods or even Slaughter and the Dogs. Excellent fun. \nFlema – We are very pleased to announce tonight a special performance tonight by legendary Argentinian punk band Flema. Hailing from Avellaneda\, Buenos Aires\, founded by Juan Manuel Fandiño and the late Ricky Espinosa. The band resumed activity in 2007 with Fernando Rossi (the group’s bassist) as the singer. \nCutflowers- Brighton four-piece catchy tunes played with conviction with plays on BBC Introducing\, for fans of\, Fontaines D.C. / Inhaler / Radiohead. \nBucktail – If you love the nostalgic rich atmospheric high energy tones of 90’s alternative bands pavement\, the pixies\, sonic youth and the flaming lips then bucktail is exactly what you need! Blending the 90s alternative inspiration with contemporary post punk\, bucktail’s stoner rock presence and catchy melodies will get you moving! \nMental Issues – opening band tonite on this mini festival of punk\, indie and rocknroll is this Anglo Spanish tour de force – or should I say Hazana de Fuerza? – playing excellent fast pace old school punk rock with joyful\, comedic attitude and proper pogo friendly energy. Ace. –
